Quoll Update

2025 Quoll Survey

A team from South Australian Arid Landscapes (SAAL) were on site in April to survey the presence of Idnya (Western Quoll) on Arkaba Conservancy.  With assistance from Wild Bush Luxury team members at Arkaba,  trapping was conducted across five nights on three separate traplines from the eastern to the western sides of the property, which produced 11 individual quolls (and 2 Virlda, Brushtail Possums).  While most of the quolls were caught on the north-eastern side of the property, closer to the boundary with Ikara/Wilpena Pound where they were reintroduced in 2014, the highlight was 2 individuals (both male) that were caught on the Elder Range side of the property and one subadult female in the centre of the property.   Although giving cause for cautious optimism, we would like to see the presence of (more sedentary) females on the west of the property and the optimism was tempered by the 14 cats that were caught in the same traplines.
