What We do
Our work is focussed on restoring biodiversity in the Flinders Ranges through Conservation, Science and Education. Much of this focus is at Arkaba Conservancy, where huge steps have been made on the ground over 15 years since the property turned its attention from pastoralism to conservation. While tourism has funded much of the on-ground work to bring back native flora and fauna, Arkaba Environmental Projects was established to bring a more holistic approach, and to also support Science and Education projects at Arkaba and in the region.

01
Conservation
The day-to-day effort to grow biodiversity at Arkaba is focussed on conservation land management whereby feral herbivores (goats, sheep, rabbits) and predators (foxes, feral cats) are kept out of the landscape and native flora and fauna have the opportunity to thrive. Much of Arkaba Environmental Projects support goes towards on ground work to manage this.
02
Science
The pursuit of science in ecology helps us discover phenomena and to understand the patterns of which they are a part. We are conscious of how interconnected all the elements of our natural ecosystems are and of how little we know about these connections.
Supporting the efforts of science to better understand what we actually have in our landscape in the Flinders Ranges and how we can engage with science to further our knowledge and thereby management of biodiversity in the Flinders Ranges is a key belief in Arkaba Environmental Projects.

03
Education
We believe that connecting people to the complex web of relationships that underpin the health of any ecosystem, including our dependence on it, is key in building community support for the conservation of biodiversity.
